Don’t watch life from the sidelines. Participate, take risks, and make it happen. These words were the catalysts for my attendance in this year’s Summer Camp. My name is Babatunde Alimi, and everyone calls me Babs. I love experiencing life away from my space, and I got just that at this Summer Camp.
This experience has been a joyful and memorable ride. Sunday was the first night in camp at Erin Ijesha. It was an intentional night of fun, making friends, singing and dancing. I was a jovial kid again from that night.
We played a history-defining match to draw 4-4 against the community team (they are professionals o with full kits and everything), but our players outplayed them and should have won. But we go again next year.
Wednesday was our outreach and I remain glad to be a part of the team helping to donate educational materials. The rain wanted to frustrate us but e no work. In the evening we hiked to the top of the mountain. I have never hiked before but I could not believe I could walk for almost 4-5hrs with my heavy bag. I must confess, hiking with CAA people is so fun!
Our outreach in Ekiti was tremendously successful. It was such an amazing feeling to take in the sight of the mountains, the elderly who were friendly and vibing to our youthful presence.
The Camp was life-changing and fun for me. I look back to the memories with only satisfaction and pride.
Join us and be a part of our united family.
