Management of menstruation can present substantial challenges to girls in rural and low-income settings. In our many encounters with girls in different rural areas, girls skip school when their monthly menstrual cycle is in full swing. They are subjected to embarrassment and fear of teases related to menstruation. This, together with menstrual pain and lack of effective materials for menstrual hygiene management, leads to school absenteeism, thus impeding their academic performance.
For over seven (7) years, Camp Adventure Africa has been at the forefront of championing menstrual hygiene for women & girls in rural communities in Africa by distributing sanitary pads, and other hygiene materials to girls and women alongside our menstrual hygiene awareness project.
